STYRENE-ACRYLONITRILE (SAN)
LASTIL compounds are based on SAN neat resin, which is composed by mixing Styrene and Acrylonitrile. Presence of Acrylonitrile (25%-30% typ.) improves the chemical resistance.
Main properties
· Good mechanical properties;
· Good creep resistance;
· Good chemical resistance;
· Excellent dimensional stability;
· High surface hardness;
· Excellent surface appearance.
Reinforced grades
Glass fibres reinforced versions provide high stiffness while maintaining an excellent dimensional stability.
Moulding
Cracking or long-term rupture due to internal residual stresses can be found. In order to prevent or reduce such phenomena, careful part design and correct moulding process are required. Eventually, annealing parts at 80-90°C (1 hour per mm of wall thickness) allows reducing residual stresses.
